NEXTMap

Intermap successfully collected over 230,000 square kilometres of data in Great Britain during 2002-3 providing full coverage of England, Scotland and Wales. Flying completely at night the data was acquired from a Learjet using airborne radar, at an altitude of 20,000-28,000 ft.

NEXTMap^® Britain provides customers with highly accurate Digital Elevation Models which model the ground surface in great detail with an elevation point provided every five metres and a vertical accuracy of one metre. Selected more densely populated areas are also available with a vertical accuracy of 50 centimetres. A digital orthorectified radar image (ORI) data set is also available providing a highly detailed grey scale image of the earth’s surface. The NEXTMap^® Britain datasets are an invaluable working resource for a wide range of professionals from engineers and environmentalists to land use specialists, government agencies and many more.

• Horizontal accuracies: +/-2.5m horizontal (1 sigma) on slopes less than 20 degrees
• Vertical accuracies: When flown at 30,000 feet the vertical accuracy is +/-1.0m RMSE. When flown at 20,000 feet the vertical accuracy is +/-0.7m RMSE

	Digital Surface Model (DSM) The DSM also known as the ‘Canopy’ or ‘First Surface’ model includes surface features such as trees and buildings. The DSM is perfect for applications such as radio signal propagation analysis, noise and wind modelling or to create 3D landscapes in combination with aerial photography. The DSM is available at 5m and 10m postings.
	Digital Terrain Model (DTM) The DTM also known as a “Bald Earth” model, removes trees and vegetation, buildings and other man-made structures to expose the underlying terrain. The DTM is available at 5m and 10m postings.
	Digital Contour Data Rendered from the NEXTMap® Britain survey the Digital Contours are available at 5m intervals in Microstation® DGN or AutoCAD® DWG and DXF format.
