Below is a list of some of our most frequently asked questions.
I cannot see the preview of my chosen area.
Do you run Norton Internet Security or any other security package? This product is known to mistake our preview image for an advert and block it. If so then you need to select Tools > Internet Options, click on the "Privacy" tab and then deselect "block adverts/pop-ups on this site". Click "Apply" then "Ok" to continue.
It could also be that you are using an old browser, which is not compatible with our site. Getmapping site will work with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above and FireFox.
I keep getting redirected to the landing page.
It sounds as if you have cookies disabled. To alter this, go into Tools > Internet Options, click on the "Privacy" tab and then make sure the sliding bar is at the bottom. The title should then read "Accept all Cookies". Click "Apply" then "Ok" to continue.
I want to purchase a digital aerial photo but I don’t know the postcode.
You can also search using street name, town/village, Landranger™ co-ordinate, easting/northing or motorway junction.
What size are the digital aerial photos?
To view the size of the aerial photo please search for and select your chosen area and proceed to the ‘Select Products’ section. Having chosen your desired resolution for your digital aerial photo click the ‘Other Info’ tab. The size of the photo is then shown as ‘Typical File Size’.
Can I just have an aerial photo of an individual property?
The aerial photos will include the surrounding areas around the location you select.
How long does delivery normally take?
The image, if ordered digitally is normally received within minutes by e-mail. However it may take longer due to other factors, for example the speed of your ISP. If you order a print it will take 5 - 10 working days.
At what height were the aerial photos taken?
They were taken at approximately 5500 feet.
Can I get a smaller area?
No. The smallest area we supply digitally is 0.2km x 0.2km. Once you have purchased and downloaded the area you can zoom in on certain sections, but only to an extent before pixelation/distortion occurs.
I have not received my image.

I have received the wrong area.
Please delete the original file from your PC and contact us. We will arrange a refund through our system, which will be confirmed to you shortly by email. Once this has gone through, you will then be free to re-order the correct area.
My screen reads, "Ooops you’ve requested a page that does not exist" when I try to download my aerial photo.
The links to the aerial photo contained in your email only remain active for up to seven days. Please contact us via +44 (0)1252 845 444 or sales@getmapping.com and we will resend the link to you. Please note that we will only resend the link in the first 3 months of purchase.
I am an AOL user and cannot open the imagery.
Copy the link within the email and paste it into your Internet Explorer address bar (Start > Programs > Internet Explorer). The link should end in ".jpg". After this you need to type in "?abc" (so that the end of the link is ".jpg?abc") and press "Go" on the address bar. You should now get the option to open the image.
What is the attached .jgw file?
The jgw is a word file in text format. It contains geographical location information in order to reference the jpeg in professional programs and GIS systems.
I have ordered an area and it has come as lots of tiles.
Large areas including 5km x 5km and 10km x 10km sizes are received in 1km tiles, as they would be too large in file size to send through as a mosaic and they would take a long time to open as a whole image. This also may occur with images bigger than 3km x 3km at 12.5cm resolution. If you do not have professional software you may want to download the free Global Mapper Software in which you can open all the tiles together and export them as a single file. You can download this software from our download page.
